FAQ

Do you have classes for the whole family?

Yes, we do! We offer different Aiki Ninjutsu classes for different ages. We have our Ninja Rangers program for kids 4-7 years old, youth classes for kids 8-12 years old, and adult classes for ages 13 and up. We also have specialized short-term classes for those looking for specific self-defense training. We have our Warrior Women Self-Defense Classes for women only, S.A.F.E. (Safety Awareness Fundamental Education) Self-Defense Workshops for high school and college students, and our Escape and Survive Classes for those looking for skills to survive a kidnapping attempt, home invasion, or staying safe in everyday life.

How is Aiki Ninjutsu different than other martial arts?

Aiki Ninjutsu is a martial art that focuses on self-protection and self-perfection rather than sport or competition. Most martial arts teach a limited set of skills. For example, For example, Tae Kwon Do mostly focuses on kicking, Judo on throwing, Jujutsu and wrestling on ground fighting, Kendo on sword training, and boxing on punching. Aiki Ninjutsu teaches all aspects of martial arts. We teach how to strike powerfully using your hands, feet, elbows, knees and head as well as throws, joint locks, ground fighting, weapons, mind science, and dealing with multiple attackers. These are all taught before a student earns a black belt!

Many martial arts rely on the student to be faster and stronger than their opponent. In real life self-defense, the odds are never in our favor. Statistics tell us that if you are a woman and get attacked it will be by a bigger, stronger, angrier man that you know. For men, the odds are that there will be at least 3 attackers who are stronger and have weapons. This is the reason Aiki Ninjutsu teaches students how to fit in with your attacker's energy and use it against them instead of trying to overpower them. This is why our system is perfect for all ages and people of all fitness levels.

Do you teach historical martial arts too?

Yes! We teach Aiki Ninjutsu which is a martial art whose curriculum is based on twelve different Japanese arts that were used by Samurai and Ninja warriors. We learn the historical versions of these arts as well as modern variations that will work against attacks we may face today. We have a very long and impressive lineage and are proud to pass on this training too!

Do you teach weapons?

We do teach weapons! We have weapons classes where we focus on learning historical weapons used by the Samurai and Ninja. The weapons we focus on are katana (samurai sword), rokushakubo (6 ft. staff), hanbo (3 ft. staff), Kusarifundo (weighted chain), Shuriken (throwing stars) and Tanto (knife). The reason we learn these weapons is so that we can use anything we have in our hands as a weapon. For example, the 6 ft. staff could be a broom, rake, shovel or pool cue. The 3 ft. staff could be a golf umbrella, golf club, baseball bat or toilet plunger. The weighted chain could be anything that is flexible. For example it could be a belt, towel, jacket, purse strap or electrical cord. Throwing star training teaches us how to throw things accurately to cause a distraction to our opponent. This could be rocks, dirt or change out of our pocket. A knife is still part of our culture and easily found in our daily lives. The sword doesn't really have a modern equivalent but the use of the sword is the secret to mastering Japanese martial arts as this is what martial arts were based on. We begin sword training in our beginner white belt class!

How many times per week should I attend?
